The Micro Link VME201 is a 3U VME bus single board computer. It makes extensive use of CMOS circuits which minimize power consumption and heat generation, and enhance immunity to electrical noise.
The card is based on the MC68HC000 microprocessor, operating at 16 MHz. This CPU is Motorola's CMOS implementation of the standard 16/32 bit 680x0 processor family. On-board memory includes a pair of 32 pin JEDEC EPROM sockets with a capacity up to 2 Mbytes and a pair of 32 pin JEDEC SRAM sockets with a capacity up to 1 Mbytes.
The optional calendar clock has registers for year, month, day, hour, minute, second, and fraction of seconds down to 1/100th. It includes a programmable alarm, 64 bytes of RAM, and may be programmed to record the exact time of a system power failure. The SRAM and calendar clock may be battery backed with an on board battery. Power up and power fail circuitry ensures reliable operation.
I/O facilities include an MC68681 DUART, which provides two programmable RS-232 serial channels and one 16 bit interrupt timer. A software watchdog is available. The front panel includes reset and abort switches, a green LED indicator for CPU activity, and a red LED under software control.
The VME201 is fully compliant with the VME bus Rev C specification. It includes a VME bus system controller, A24:D16 and A16:D16 bus master, and multilevel interrupt handler.
The selectable VME bus Slot One system controller includes VME bus power up and pushbutton system reset driver, single level bus arbiter, system clock driver, interrupt daisy chain driver, bus activity watchdog and bus error driver.
The VME201 CPU may take on VME bus mastership through any selected bus request level. The on board CPU may access VME bus memory and I/O cards with A24:D16 and A16:D16 operations.
The interrupt handler can be configured to respond to up to seven VME bus interrupts plus VME ACFAIL and SYSFAIL, local interrupts from the DUART, calendar clock and Abort pushbutton. Interrupt responses can be vectored or auto-vectored.
The VME201 is compatible with Micro-Link's family of 3U VME bus cards, including the VME202, VME203 and other existing industrial and system I/O cards. Hardware and software is available for multiprocessor VME bus applications and for Ethernet and other communication requirements.
Micro Link provides extensive software and integration support for all of these cards including MICRObug II monitor/debugger, and Software Development System's CrossCode® C system.
These tools facilitate the development of embedded real-time applications, stand alone integrated systems, and distributed control and acquisition networks.
The Micro-Link Application and Systems Support Group offers disk-based development systems as well as disk-based and diskless target systems. Target systems are configured and pre-integrated to suit each and every application.
