VME610 Highlights

Description

The Micro-Link VME610 is a 3U VMEbus Host Adapter for the Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) standard. The VME610 allows connection of VMEbus systems to a wide variety of peripheral devices including embedded SCSI Hard Disk drives, floppy disk drives, and removable media drives such as Floptical, WORM and tape cassette drives.

Micro-Link's full software support includes drivers for major operating systems including Microware's OS-9. These real-time multi-tasking, multi-user environments make excellent use of high performance SCSI peripheral devices in industrial control and monitoring applications. With Micro-Link provided firmware, VME610 operation is truly "plug-and-run."

A variety of features make the VME610 application friendly. Front panel LED's indicate the current operating status of the VME610. Both internal and external system connections are provided. The SCSI termination resistor networks are removable to allow connection at cable midpoints.

An on-board FIFO allows high speed transfers between the SCSI device and the VMEbus master. Interrupt logic supports programmable interrupt vectors on SCSI controller or FIFO interrupt event conditions. The interrupt requester is programmable for any of the 7 VMEbus interrupt levels.

The VME610 can operate in high performance FIFO based native mode or can emulate the earlier VME620 in a polled transfer mode. Micro-Link continues our tradition of reducing power consumption with extensive use of CMOS circuitry.
